Impossible Goals

Terms of Service

Effective date: 5 October 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Better Together Technologies LLC for your use of the Impossible Goals app and service. By creating an account or using Impossible Goals, you agree to them.

1. Who we are, and what you are agreeing to

Impossible Goals is made and run by Better Together Technologies LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“we”, “us”). You can reach us at hello@bettertogether.technology.

By creating an account or otherwise using Impossible Goals, you agree to these terms, to our Privacy Policy, which explains what we do with your information, and to our Community Guidelines. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.

Session recordings. To find where the app is confusing or broken, we record a random sample of about one in five times the app is opened, using PostHog on servers in the European Union. We do not make session recordings when your device’s region or time zone is set to the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland. A recording is a replay of the app’s screens and the taps and scrolls you make on them. Before a recording leaves your device, everything you type into a text field and every image and photo on screen is masked out; other text shown in the app, such as goal titles, names and comments, can appear in it. A recording covers only the Impossible Goals app. By continuing to use the app, you accept that your sessions may be recorded this way. Section 4 of our Privacy Policy explains more.

If you downloaded the app from the App Store, these terms are between you and us, not Apple. Section 10 sets out the terms Apple requires us to include.

2. Eligibility and age

You must be at least 16 years old to use Impossible Goals, and old enough to form a binding agreement where you live. When you create an account we ask you to confirm your age and accept these terms, and we record that you did, together with the version of these terms you accepted. If we change these terms, we ask you to accept the new version before you carry on. If you are over 16 but under the age of majority where you live, you may use the service only with the involvement of a parent or guardian. If we learn that an account belongs to someone under 16, we will close it.

3. Your account

You sign in through our authentication provider using your email address, phone number, or an Apple or Google sign-in. You are responsible for keeping access to your account secure and for activity that happens under it. Give us accurate information, and let us know if you believe your account has been compromised.

Your Better Together account. Your account in Impossible Goals is a Better Together account, shared with the other apps made by Better Together Technologies LLC (currently The List, Close, Impossible Goals and The Cutting Room). Your @handle is reserved for you across all of them. Each app has its own terms; you accept an app’s terms when you first sign in to it, and signing in to one app does not make you a user of another. Our Privacy Policy explains what is shared between apps and what is not.

Your @handle. Your @handle is unique across all of our apps. Some handles are reserved and cannot be chosen. You can change your handle from Settings, subject to a waiting period between changes; a handle you give up may be taken by someone else, and links to your old handle stop working. Deleting only your Impossible Goals account does not release your handle: it stays reserved for your Better Together account until that account is deleted (section 9).

One person, one account. Do not impersonate anyone, use a handle or profile that suggests you are someone you are not, or let another person use your account. We may reclaim a handle that impersonates a person, a brand, or us.

4. Your content

You own the goals, entries, photos, comments and other material you create (“your content”). You keep that ownership. To run the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, reproduce, adapt (for example to resize a photo or generate a preview image), and display and distribute your content to the audiences you choose, and to operate, secure, moderate, and improve the service.

Who can see what. You choose a visibility for each goal: private (only you and the goal’s other members), supporters (people you or a co-owner choose for that goal), or public. Individual entries can be made private even on a shared goal. Public goals and their entries and photos are visible to anyone, including people who are not signed in, on the web pages for your profile, your goal, and each public entry, and in previews when those pages are shared. Your @handle, display name and profile photo are shown on your public profile page whether or not you appear in search. Share cards you create in the app contain your content and your invite link, and you decide where to share them. Anything you make public may be seen, supported, or adopted by others.

Shared goals. A goal can have more than one member. Each member’s entries are their own and stay attributed to them. A member who is not an owner can leave, or be removed by an owner; their entries stay on the goal. An owner cannot leave a goal while it is active; owners pause, archive or delete it instead. If an owner deletes a shared goal, it is deleted for every member, including the entries other members added to it (an entry that also counts toward another goal its author co-owns moves there). If a member deletes their account, the goal continues for the remaining members and that member’s contributions are shown as “Deleted account”.

When the licence ends. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for: backup copies that age out on our normal schedule; content that remains in shared places after you delete your account (section 9), which is shown as “Deleted account”; goals others have adopted, which are their own copies; and copies other people have already made of anything you shared publicly.

You are responsible for your content. You confirm that you have the right to post it, including any photo of, or information about, another person, and that it does not break section 6.

5. The social model

Impossible Goals connects people around goals in three ways:

  • Follow — you follow a person to see the goals and updates they share with their followers.
  • Support — you support a specific goal to witness and encourage it.
  • Adopt — you adopt someone’s goal to start your own version of it, on your own account, with a credit to the original.

What others can see is governed by the visibility you set on each goal. You can block a person at any time; blocking hides you from each other.

6. Community rules and moderation

Our Community Guidelines are part of these terms. They say what this place is for, what is not allowed, what happens when a rule is broken, and how to report or appeal. In short, you agree not to post or do any of the following on Impossible Goals:

  • harassment, bullying, threats, or pile-ons;
  • hate or slurs aimed at who someone is;
  • sexual content or nudity, and anything that sexualises a minor;
  • graphic violence, or content that encourages self-harm or harm to others;
  • spam, scams, bulk unsolicited promotion, and fake engagement;
  • impersonating a person, a brand, or us;
  • illegal content, or content that infringes someone else’s rights, including posting another person’s private information without their permission;
  • scraping, or attempting to break, overload, or circumvent the security or rate limits of the service;
  • anything that breaks applicable law.

How we moderate. Every image uploaded to the service — entry photos, goal covers, profile photos, and photos or GIFs attached to comments — is automatically classified for safety by an AI service (Anthropic) when it is uploaded, and content it flags is hidden until a person has looked at it. Text you write may be screened automatically and flagged for a person to look at; screening never blocks or hides what you wrote by itself. People review reports and flagged content. You can report any goal, entry, comment or profile from within the app, and block anyone, without giving a reason.

What we may do. We may hide or remove content, remove an attachment, restrict features, or suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or the guidelines, or where the law requires it or someone is at risk. We do not have to warn you first, though we usually will. If you think we got it wrong, the guidelines explain how to appeal. We may keep a record of reports, and of what was removed and why, for 2 years after they are resolved, to handle appeals, spot repeat behaviour and meet our legal obligations.

If you believe content on the service infringes your rights, report it in the app or email hello@bettertogether.technology with a link to the content and an explanation, and we will look into it.

7. Pro subscription

Impossible Goals is free to use. A free account can have up to 5 goals going at once (goals you have finished or archived do not count). Pro is an optional paid subscription that removes that limit. Explore, where you can find and search public goals and people, is free for every account. What Pro includes may change over time; the app shows what it includes when you subscribe.

Billing. Pro is sold through the App Store and billed by Apple to your Apple Account. The price, the billing period (monthly or yearly), and any free trial or introductory offer are shown in the app before you subscribe. Payment is taken when you confirm the purchase, or at the end of a free trial. Pro renews automatically for the same period at the price shown in your App Store subscription settings, until you cancel. To avoid being charged for the next period, cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. You manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings (Settings → your name → Subscriptions on your iPhone; the app’s Settings links there). Deleting your Impossible Goals account does not cancel it. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep Pro until the end of the period you have already paid for.

Refunds and price changes. Because Apple handles the payment, refunds are requested from and decided by Apple under its terms; we cannot issue them. If we change the price of Pro, Apple tells you in advance and applies the change under its rules, which may require your agreement before you are charged the new price. App Store offer and promo codes are redeemed through Apple and are subject to Apple’s terms.

If Pro ends. When your subscription or any free Pro period ends, you keep your account and everything in it. Your 5 oldest ongoing goals stay fully usable. Any further ongoing goals move to your Archive, where you can still read them and everything on them, but cannot add to or change them until you free a slot and restore them, or subscribe again. You can still delete them, or leave them if they are shared. Resubscribing restores those goals automatically; goals you archived yourself stay archived. On a shared goal, only you are affected: the other members keep full access, and nothing on the goal itself changes.

Free Pro time. We sometimes give Pro time away: for example to everyone who had an account when we started charging, or as a reward for an invite (section 8). Free Pro time is a gift, not a purchase. It has no cash value, cannot be refunded or transferred, is used only while you have no paid subscription, and we may change or end these programmes at any time. Free Pro time does not fix a price: when it ends, Pro costs whatever the App Store shows then.

8. Invites

Every account has an invite code and link. When someone new signs up with your code, they and you may receive free Pro time, as shown in the app at the time. A code can be redeemed once per account, only by a new or recent account, and never by its own owner. Rewards are discretionary: we may cap them, change them, end the programme, or withhold or remove rewards that were earned through fake accounts, inviting yourself, paid promotion that breaks section 6, or other abuse, and we may suspend accounts involved. Your invite link is public; anyone who opens it sees your code.

9. Ending your account: deletion and termination

You can stop using Impossible Goals at any time. You can delete your account yourself from Settings → Delete account. This deletes your Impossible Goals account: your profile and contact details are removed, your uploaded photos and other files are erased, and your device and notification records are deleted. Content you posted into shared places — a goal with other members, comments on other people’s entries, adoptions of your goals — can stay, shown as “Deleted account”, and a goal you made public may remain readable without your name on it. Our Privacy Policy lists exactly what is deleted and what is kept.

Deleting your Impossible Goals account does not delete your Better Together account, which stays for our other apps, and does not release your @handle. To delete everything, including your Better Together account and your data in all of our apps, email hello@bettertogether.technology from the address on your account and we will do it across all of them. If you have a Pro subscription, cancel it in your App Store settings (section 7); deleting your account does not cancel it.

We may suspend or terminate an account that breaches these terms or the Community Guidelines, that we are required to act on by law, or that poses a risk to other people or to the service. Where we can, we will tell you why, and the guidelines explain how to appeal. We may also stop providing the service, or a feature of it, with reasonable notice.

Sections 4 (for content that remains), 6 (report records), and 10 to 13 continue to apply after your account ends.

10. Apple App Store terms

These terms apply to the Impossible Goals app you download from the App Store. Apple requires us to include the following, and you agree to it.

  • Acknowledgement. These terms are between you and us only, not Apple. We, not Apple, are solely responsible for the app and its content. Nothing in these terms conflicts with the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, which also apply to your use of the App Store.
  • Licence. We grant you a non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple-branded devices that you own or control, as permitted by the Usage Rules in the Apple Media Services Terms and Conditions, except that the app may be accessed and used by other accounts associated with you through Family Sharing or volume purchasing where Apple allows it.
  • Maintenance and support. We are solely responsible for providing any maintenance and support for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide any maintenance or support for it.
  • Warranty. We are solely responsible for any product warranties, whether express or implied by law, to the extent not disclaimed in section 11. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any) you paid for the app. To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the app, and any other claims, losses, liabilities, damages, costs or expenses attributable to a failure to conform to a warranty are our responsibility.
  • Product claims. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing any claims by you or a third party relating to the app or your possession or use of it, including product liability claims, any claim that the app fails to conform to a legal or regulatory requirement, and claims arising under consumer protection, privacy or similar legislation.
  • Intellectual property. If a third party claims that the app, or your possession and use of it, infringes their intellectual property rights, we, not Apple, are solely responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement and discharge of that claim.
  • Legal compliance. You represent and warrant that you are not located in a country that is subject to a United States Government embargo or that has been designated by the United States Government as a “terrorist supporting” country, and that you are not listed on any United States Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
  • Third-party terms. You must comply with any applicable third-party terms of agreement when using the app, for example the terms of the sign-in provider you choose.
  • Third-party beneficiary. Apple and Apple’s subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms. When you accept these terms, Apple has the right, and is deemed to have accepted the right, to enforce them against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Our contact details for questions, complaints or claims about the app are in section 15.

11. Disclaimers — no guarantee of outcomes

Impossible Goals is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied or statutory, including any implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not promise that the service will be uninterrupted, timely, secure, or free of errors, that entries, photos, or notifications will always be delivered or preserved, that automated moderation will catch everything, or that the service will be available in any particular country.

Impossible Goals is a place to record and share a goal. It is not a coach, a trainer, a therapist, a doctor, or a financial adviser, and it does not guarantee any outcome. Declaring a goal here does not mean you will reach it, and nothing in the app is professional advice. What you attempt, and whether it is safe and sensible for you, is your decision — take proper advice before acting on anything you read here, and seek medical advice before starting anything physically demanding. Goals, entries, comments and encouragement posted by other people are theirs, not ours, and we do not endorse or verify them.

Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the law where you live that cannot be excluded or limited by agreement.

12. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we and our members, officers, employees and contractors will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost profits, lost goodwill, or lost or corrupted data or content, arising out of or relating to your use of the service — including anything you do, or do not do, in pursuit of a goal you recorded here, and anything another person posts, adopts, or does on the service — however caused and whether or not we were told it was possible.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for all claims relating to the service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim arose and fifty US dollars (USD 50).

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, and any rights you have as a consumer under the mandatory law of the country you live in.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these terms or the service will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you and we submit to the jurisdiction of those courts.

That choice never removes the protection of the mandatory consumer law of the country you live in. If you live in the European Union, the United Kingdom, or anywhere else whose law gives you rights as a consumer that cannot be excluded by agreement, you keep those rights, and you may bring a claim in the courts of the country where you live.

Before starting a claim, please contact us at hello@bettertogether.technology; most problems can be sorted out directly.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will update the effective date above and ask you to accept the updated terms in the app before you carry on using it. We record which version of these terms you accepted, and when, so both of us know what was agreed. If a court finds part of these terms unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a term straight away, we can still enforce it later. You may not transfer this agreement to anyone else; we may transfer it to a successor of our business, and we will tell you if we do.
